Overview
The well-run sanctuary at Solio Ranch (also called Solio Game Reserve) on the Laikipia Plateau was founded in 1970 as a breeding ground for white and black rhinos. It’s now known as an important refuge for both species. The program has been so successful that many rhinos have even been translocated from here to other parks and reserves. The small park is literally full of rhino, and other safari animals have been introduced as well.

Tour Plan
Morning:
Depart early from Nairobi or your starting point.
Arrive at Solio Ranch around midday (approx. 3.5–4 hours drive from Nairobi).
Afternoon:
Check-in at your lodge
Lunch with a view of the plains and wildlife.
Evening:
Game drive: Explore the conservancy known for black & white rhinos, lions, leopards, and large herds of buffalo and antelope.
Sundowner drinks in the bush.
Night:
Dinner at the lodge.
Optional: Stargazing or relaxed evening by the fireplace.
Morning:
Early breakfast.
Depart for Thomson Falls in Nyahururu (approx. 1.5–2 hours drive).
Late Morning:
Visit Thomson Falls – a 74-meter scenic waterfall.
Take photos, enjoy the view, visit the viewpoint
Afternoon:
Lunch in Nyahururu town (suggestions: Panari Resort Nyahururu or local spots).
Quick stroll through the town or stop by the Equator line marker
Dinner and overnight stay.
Morning:
Optional early morning game drive or nature walk.
